Spring Term - Year 4 - Tennis & Inclusive Sports

Image
Year 4 have enthusiastically embraced this half-term’s new focus in PE. During this part of the term, we have been concentrating on tennis as well as a range of inclusive sports, encouraging students to develop both their physical skills and their understanding of teamwork and accessibility in sport. For the past two weeks, tennis has been our main focus. The lessons have centred on developing key fundamental skills such as hand-eye coordination, movement and positioning on the court, and learning how to work effectively with the net. To build strong foundations, students initially practised these skills without racquets, allowing them to concentrate on controlling the ball and understanding how it travels. As their confidence has grown, we have gradually introduced racquets, with students learning how to control the ball using proper wrist movement, grip, and racquet handling. This has helped them begin to understand the importance of control, accuracy, and technique in tennis. Alongs...
