Year 4 - Spring Term - Gymnastics & Hockey

Year 4 have worked extremely hard this term, taking on the challenge of learning and adapting to two demanding sports. In gymnastics, students have continued to build on their prior knowledge and have shown clear progression in performing a variety of leaps, jumps, rolls and balances, with a strong understanding of points of contact on the floor. They have also developed their travelling movements and made effective use of equipment and apparatus, adapting their skills on a greater scale and exploring more complex ideas with growing confidence and control.

In hockey, Year 4 have made excellent progress in their knowledge and understanding of the game, particularly in relation to rules and gameplay. They have further developed their dribbling and shooting skills, while also learning new techniques and tricks to support a more tactical and strategic mindset. Students have enjoyed exploring different types of hockey, including indoor hockey and ice hockey (without the snow!), which has helped broaden their understanding of how skills can be adapted across variations of the sport.

Overall, Year 4 should be very proud of how far they have come this half term. Across both sports, they have demonstrated creativity, imagination and a willingness to try new approaches, all while developing their physical skills and confidence. Well done, Year 4 a fantastic effort!
